Youth: Powerful Voices presents the Girlvolution Conference.– Details: Powerful Voices is inviting you and youth you support toour annual Girlvolution Conference! Girlvolution is a day that reaches 300+ youth and adults who come together in the name of justice and youth voice. The conference will have 12 workshops led by young women employed with us through SYVPI. Workshop topics include: School Suspension – Why It Doesn't Work, Women In Hip-Hop, Bullying, Foster Care, Healthy Relationships, Teen depression, Sexism in the Media, Family addiction and how it impacts youth, Negative impacts of oppressive music, Stereotypes. WHO SHOULD COME:Youth ages 12 and up, adults, supporters of Youth Voice, and people of all genders welcome.We want and need male and other gender identified allies there and participating. Though Girlvolution is led by those that identify as female, gender justice is not possible without all of us working together. COST: FREE for Youth (ages 21 and under), $25 for Adults. Music: Garfield High School Jazz Choirs– Details: Under the direction of Carol Burton, the award-winning Garfield High School Choirs demonstrate a passion for singing in every note. Garfield's Concert Choir and Vocal Jazz's rich repertoire has taken them all the way to Carnegie Hall in New York City to perform – with professional recordings for Vocal Jazz on the side. The choir experience includes traditional concerts, a staged and choreographed musical revue, trips, workshops with professional vocalists, attendance at Seattle Opera productions and competitions.
