Community: Beacon Hill Block PartyDetail: Join us Saturday, June 18th for the 2016 Block Party at The Station, the annual hiphop music and arts festival hosted by The Station cafe on Beacon Hill! The festival showcases and celebrates South Seattle's diverse creative community and provides a stage for local hiphop artists, a group largely underrepresented at other Northwest music festivals. Friends of Deadhorse Canyon (FODC) is a community-based group which does environmental restoration work and trail enhancement in the Deadhorse Canyon area of Lakeridge Park, in far southeast Seattle. Deadhorse Canyon is a 35-acre natural area in far southeast Seattle. Community: Annual Rhododendron Deadheading Volunteer Work PartyDetails: This is a great once-a-year community event in Rainier Beach! Depending on the timing of 2016's bloom cycle, we will learn and practice a fun horticultural skill—carefully removing the spent rhododendron flowers! This is a rain or shine event. Dress warmly in layers, bring your raingear, hat and closed-toe sturdy shoes. Tools and gloves are provided, but you may bring your favorite handtool(s). Bring your water bottle.
