"Seattle JazzED … was founded in 2010 by a small group of volunteers and music educators, who wanted kids to get great music education opportunities. / How many artists have been praised a "punk rock provocateur," "jazz vibraphone visionary," and "percussion virtuoso" in the same sentence? There's only one: Mike Dillon. / Zony Mash made their debut in late 1995 as the unofficial house band at the OK Hotel in Seattle … In Zony Mash youll hear a wide variety of influences, including sixties-style psychedelic rock, blues, funk, New Orleans and definitely some sounds that could only be described as being from outer space."

Sunday, Aug. 19th:

"BAAMFest has continued to defy expectations year after year, reflecting culture from every continent — and Oceania too — and doing this in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in America. While other major Seattle music events charge hefty admission fees, BAAMFest presents both Grammy winners and nominees; musical performers with scores of recording credits and those who have toured with the giants – and bracing new talent. And all of this is presented for free. 4 stages; 4 pop-up museums; 40+ booths; 40 professional acts (58 acts in total); 4 blocks from light rail.

Rainier Beach. It's a force. Let's talk about the music: R&B, Jazz, Rap and Soul, Hip Hop, Ukulele, Rock & Roll, Gospel, Taiko, Old-school Funk, Reggae, Blues, Mariachi and Punk. And the four museum pop ups: Wing Luke Asian History Museum, with an additional Bruce Lee exhibit, The Seattle Children's Museum, The Living Computer Museum, Buffalo Soldiers 10th Cavalry Historical exhibit, including horses. BAAMFest this year will also feature "art in action", the live creation of a mural, along with a sculpture court." Presented by the Rainier Beach Merchants Association
Time: 11 AM—6 PM
Where: Rainier Beach Community Center / South Shore School—8825 Rainier Ave S.
Cost: FREE
