Community: Fifth Annual Black Prisoners Caucus Family SummitDetails: The Black Prisoners' Caucus cordially invites you to attend its 5th Annual Family Summit. This FREE event will focus on issues related to families who have loved-ones behind bars. The Family Summit will feature music, speakers, artwork, workshops, family activities, and resources to support the families of those incarcerated. The Family Summit also plans to strengthen and to heal our entire community from the impact of mass incarceration. Food and childcare provided. We hope to see our entire community (especially children/youth) at this year's Family Summit. It takes village! Community: Seward Park Garden Walk and Talk Details: Walt Bubelis and Jeanne Schollmeyer will be leading a garden walk at the front entrance of Seward Park. Walt will identify and talk about the backbones of the landscape, which are the trees and shrubs that give visual support to the herbaceous plants at the circle entrance. Jeanne Schollmeyer will talk about the process of creating the seasonal flower display for the beds. The outdoor cinema series will screen the animated comedy adventure: 'Penguins of Madagascar'. Bring a picnic, low back chairs and blankets to spread out for a fun cinema experience under the stars. Movies: Urban Agriculture Bike Tour With Rainier Valley Food Bank and Bike Works- Details: Join Rainier Valley Food Bank on an Urban Agriculture Bike tour with Bike Works to some of the most beautiful spaces in South Seattle. We we will tour p-patches, community gardens, urban farms, and the place where food meets the people who need it most: Rainier Valley Food Bank! On both dates we will meet at Bike Works at 3:00pm, and conclude the tour at the ending location around 6:00pm with some farm fresh veggies and tasty food. If you cannot attend the tour on either date, we would still love to see you for the post-tour meal. Community: Funeral for Heavenly Marvee PaigeDetails: Tedra Paige was ‪#‎pregnant‬ when she was ‪#‎shot‬ early in the morning in the south-end of Seattle, Wa – while she waited at a bus stop getting ready to go home. Unfortunately she ‪#‎lost‬ her ‪#‎child‬ "Heavenly Marvee Paige" due to this tragedy. On behalf of Tedra Paige, The United Hood Movement is asking the community to come, and attend the memorial services in the spirit of love, and unity. Students will be familiarized with the Protools(DigiDesign) work environment as well as the Reasons workspace.
