"MUSIC & MOVEMENT PLAY-SPACE at Massive Monkees Studio: The Beacon; DJ | DanceParty | Crafts | Toys | BouncyHouse | StoryTime & more!
"CHILL Mondays & Fridays 10AM-2PM: 'Chill' days are low-key play sessions where kids can play, climb, color, read or dance at their own pace. Parent/caretakers are welcome to bring in work, gather with other parents/caretakers to meet or just hang out. We will have wifi and workspace set up.
"ACTIVE Wednesdays 10AM-12PM: 'Active' days will feature fun interactive activities led by MM Play Space facilitators Anna Banana Freeze and Brysen (Massive Monkees) as well as other special guest facilitators. Activities include tot dance lessons, story time, adult/kid yoga, arts & crafts and more!"
Space is limited to 20 kids per session, reserve a spot here.

"This film tells the story of the American Civil Rights Movement through its powerful music — the freedom songs that protesters sang on picket lines, in mass meetings, in paddy wagons and in jail cells as they fought for justice and equality. These songs evolved from slave chants, from the labor movement, and especially from the black church. They enabled people to sing words they could not say and were crucial in helping protesters face down brutal aggression with dignity and non-violence. Directors Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman use contemporary artists to interpret the music and messages of the Civil Rights Movement including John Legend, the Roots, Richie Havens, Wyclef Jean and more.
"After the film, attendees are invited to stay for discussion. The South Seattle Climate Action Network and other local groups will provide info tables with opportunities for action." All-Ages

"Join us for an all-ages evening of rock at the Novaplosion! Benefit Rock Show for Nova High School. Artist Lineup: Planet 39, MCDK, Stoffel, AIAIA, Jesse Stout, Nova High School musicians and poets
"All proceeds from the concert directly support Nova High School students with innovative programming and student needs. The student-run Budget Committee determines how FON money is spent. Priorities include: Textbooks and teaching materials, part or all of some teacher salaries, Artists in Residence, Field trips, Student Activity Committees, Parent/guardian education programs, Breakfast program for ALL students, Resources open to all students for basic needs such as school supplies, personal hygiene items, etc.

"HONK! Fest West is back for our 12th year of free community street band performances in the neighborhoods of Seattle. HONK! Fest West is a FREE, non-profit, community music festival driven by the energetic performance of street bands in public spaces. Completely volunteer-planned and organized, HONK! festivals are a part of a global renaissance of community street band culture. For three days in Seattle area parks and streets, 25+ bands deliver music and celebration that is accessible to all. In 2019, HONK! "Join us for the 30th Annual Beacon Hill Festival, which raises much-needed funds for Jefferson Advisory Council's scholarship program. Our annual event draws more than 5,000 attendees with food vendors, carnival games, drill team and drum line performances, folk dance, food trucks, and more. This event is FREE and open to all ages!" "MS hip hop, MS mujeres, MS resistencia (More hip hop, more womxn, more resistance) — Let's get together to have an intimate conversation about hip hop as art of resistance and women of color leading movements.
"Come to meet Afro-Ecuadorian hip hop artist Black Mama and her fellow Ecuadorian feminista Hip Hop artists, Caye Cayejera, Taki Amaru, and Gabriela Gomez to dialogue about the ways they use the transformative power of Hip Hop art and music to create community, joy, and resistance urgently needed to heal a world damaged by violence against women, the exploitation of ancestral land and displacement of ancestral communities, state policies that harm asylum seekers and immigrants around the world, and the persecution of queer and transgender communities.

"Melanie Stevens is an artist, illustrator and writer. She is the creator of the graphic novel series, WaterShed, and the co-founder and editor of Miss Anthology, an organization that supports and publishes racially and economically diverse young comic artists who identify as female or genderqueer. She is also the co-curator of Nat Turner Project, a migratory gallery space that grants artists of color the freedom to create or express their own language within and without the parameters of racial commodification or designation. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree for Political Science from Yale University and her Master's of Fine Arts degree for Visual Studies at Pacific Northwest College of Art, where she currently teaches. Melanie's work 'If You're Watching This, It's Too Late,' will be on exhibit at Wa Na Wari, in June and July." All-Ages
