Film Screening: This Living Salish Sea

Beacon Hill Meaningful Movies Presents—This Living Salish Sea

"This Living Salish Sea is important to us here in the Pacific Northwest. Starting at an inland pond which flows into a stream, then rivers and finally into the sea, this film is about interconnectedness and interdependence. It takes you deep into the Salish Sea and introduces the beings who live there with gorgeous and intimate underwater photography and explanation by the filmmaker, Sarama. But the film also presents the threat to this environment and these beings by the heedless fossil fuel industry, the Kinder Morgan pipeline to transfer petroleum from Alberta tar sands to tankers in Vancouver which will ship it through the Salish Sea. Spills can happen at every stage. Now that the Canadian government has bought the project and despite the warning by their own National Energy Board of the risks it poses to orcas and people…"
